Debating Seniors closely miss this years‘ finals

Unfortunately, this year’s Debating Senior League (years 9-12) had to take place online via Zoom due to the Covid pandemic. Still, our team competed in 8 preliminary rounds where they debated against teams from all over Germany.

The standard of the debates was extremely high and especially our rookies from year 9 and 10 did a really good job. The topics of the debates ranged from recent issues like the portrayal of electric cars as a sustainable technology or the usage of nuclear power stations to rather philosophical ideas like preventing people from lying. Team GGE was able to win 4 of their 8 debates. However, we would have needed one more win to qualify for this year’s finals.

In addition to our good team performances, Mathis Bußhoff was rewarded for his individual speeches. In the individual speakers’ ranking of all participants, he reached 4th place. Congratulation to this exceptional achievement.

As some of our speakers will graduate this summer, the Debating Seniors are looking forward to welcoming new faces from years 9-12 next school year.

Speaking for Team GGE were: Maja, Michaela, Leo, Lucas, Mathis, Tom, Cédric, Emil
